If you don’t love it you’re going to give up… or you’ll fail…You have to love it with passion.
Steve Jobs, from Part 7 Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, part 2 of 7 YouTube Video, from The Wall Street Journal Executive 2008 Conference.
Anyone looking at Microsoft and Apple, will tell you that they have very different cultures from each other. It is also quite different from our own here at 1-Focus International. However, both founders, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs agree on the one single piece of advice . . . it is about People (“get great people around you”) and Passion (“you have to love it”). When asked what they could learn from one another and the respective culture, Gates commented that Jobs was intuitive and great about product and people. Jobs complimented Microsoft of its ability to partner with others – according to him, something that Apple was unsuccessful at doing except when they had partnered with Microsoft.
We are convinced it is through a Culture of Engagement that future successes and rapid change will be achieved and this requires Collaborative Leadership. We have researched and developed a Collaborative Leadership 360 Degree Feedback Assessment. Over the next few months we will be collecting normative data. If you or your organization is interested in participating in this research, please contact us. You will be the first to see both individual, organizational and total trends as well as receive special rates through to the end of 2009 for assisting in this process.
