Below is a short video that I stumbled across. It never ceases to amaze me that the core issues of our lives – are not new and remain relevant from generation to generation. This is part of a talk that Victor Frankl gave at a conference in Toronto with students sometime in the mid sixties. Forty years ago, a study showed that it was not money that young people of America were seeking – it was meaning in their lives. Today, it is the same and we must not feel disillusioned that we as individuals can not make a difference. It contains a profound truth that we must hold ourselves (and humanity) above what we believe / feel / think we are capable of becoming / achieving / creating. This is the only way, according to Frankl, that we, as human beings, will reach our fullest potential. At 1-Focus International, we hope that this is reflected in our philosophy and is integral to organizational work. (See quote below.) I will discuss this issue some more in my next post as I look beyond philosophy into the role that spirituality plays in organizations.

At 1-Focus we believe in the dignity and integrity of all people. It is our belief that the answers to even the most complex problems lie within the system itself—individual, group, organization, community— which when tapped will be implemented with a high level of commitment and engagement. We are committed to partnering to develop the inherent capability and resourcefulness of every client.
We see human resources as human beings with untapped potential yearning to be awakened with attention, appreciation and a clear focus.
