Step 1

Creating a vision at the top management level

Dreaming the dream of the future is the first I of »Shared Visioning«: It begins with the top management reflecting on the past, taking inventory of the present and creating a clear vision of the future.

This process starts at the individual level: Creating the basis for a frame around the focus. In order to successfully help clients at this stage, strong facilitation and coaching skills are necessary. The following steps are involved in this stage:

1.

Reflection: looking back at where you have come from: as a corporation, personally, professionally, etc.

2.

Taking inventory: establishing a clear picture of your current reality including internal and external factors, forecasts along with economic and market trends.

3.

Creating or re-recreating a clear vision of the future. This needs to be a wholistic vision, taking all aspects of your life into account. Once this is done, it is possible to move ahead and form a vision for the corporation including your perception of your role, what you imagine the organization to be like in the future, what the environment might be like and what line of business it will be in. A vision of the future needs to be clear enough that others can see it and provocative enough to get their attention.

Once this is done you can begin to get others involved.

You are ready to take part increating a »Shared Visioning« with your Board an the management team.
